Another type of website type is the e-commerce website, also called an online shop. If you intend to sell products or services directly online on your website, then an online shop is right for you.
Products or services are presented in an online shop, and the entire purchase process is carried out online. Your customers select products or services in the online shop, place them in a virtual shopping cart, order, and usually pay directly online.
Online shops are more complex than other websites. The entire ordering and payment process must be mapped entirely and legally, and different interfaces to third-party systems are usually necessary.

In companies, so-called corporate blogs are usually integrated as an additional website type on the actual company website and used there as a marketing and communication tool.

Portfolio websites are ideal for appealingly presenting visual work. Therefore, this website type is the perfect basis for designers, photographers, or artists.
Most of the themes for portfolios are characterized by the minimalist style to direct visitors’ attention to the works and work samples themselves. The text is significantly less than the corporate website to not distract from the visual result.
Landing pages are also known as one-pagers because they only consist of a single page. They are suitable for companies and the self-employed. Only the legally required imprint and the data protection declaration are created as separate sub-pages.
Visitors can see all the essential information on the main page, divided into different areas. Unlike a regular website, the side menu does not link to other website sub-pages. The individual sizes of the landing page can be quickly accessed via this.
Landing pages, therefore, concentrate on the essential information that is presented to the visitor briefly and in a visually appealing manner. The aim is to draw attention to specific content in a targeted way.
When choosing a suitable website type, it depends on its goal. For example, suppose you want to sell products. In that case, an e-commerce website is appropriate. If you’re going to present your images, a portfolio website is ideal. If a company wants to strengthen its position as an expert, a company blog is a great option.
