What Are The Best Mobile Processors?

Mobile Processors: We sometimes must emphasize which chip equips the device we intend to buy. Although the component alone doesn’t work miracles, knowing the model of the chip helps to calibrate the expectations of what to expect from the smartphone during use.

For those of you who want to know the best cell phone processor today, we present four SoCs (System-on-a-chip) so that you can rest assured about the firepower of your smartphone in case it is equipped with any of the processors from the list.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

In addition to being Qualcomm’s best processor today, it is also the most powerful in Android smartphones top of the line. This chipset focuses on merging the use of artificial intelligence to optimize functions related to the camera, supporting 200 MP sensors and 8K videos, and enhancing processing-related functions, enabling high performance.

The main feature that makes it the main processor today is its high firepower for both common uses and games. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has 64-bit architecture composed of a 3.2GHz core, 4 at 2.8GHz, and 3 at 2GHz. All three cores utilize 8MB Level 3 cache, a 4-nanometer processor.

This chipset is present in the entire Galaxy S23 line, in its exclusive version Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy, in addition to being the processor of the Xiaomi13, the OnePlus 11, and the the motor bike Edge 40 Pro.

Apple A16 Bionic

We went from the best Android phone processor to the best Apple phones. The A16 Bionic stands out as one of the best mobile processors for achieving a 40% more powerful performance than some of its main competitors while consuming 20% less battery than its predecessor. That is, it was a clear evolution of a chipset that was already powerful.

The A16 was the first Apple chipset to be manufactured with 4 nanometers, having more than 16 billion transistors and performing 17 trillion operations per second, proving to be an effective chipset in the most varied forms of use. It comprises 2 cores at 3.2 GHz and 4 at 1.8 GHz, along with a 5-core GPU, allowing for smoother communication between the CPUs, and consequently, better performance.

Most of the time, those buying an iPhone look for good cameras. The A16 Bionic has improved image processing and artificial intelligence learning capabilities, which enables the 48 MP cameras of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max to optimize images better.

Dimension 9200

In this third option, we bring a chipset that may not be as balanced and comprehensive as the two already mentioned but brings great effectiveness in high performance. MediaTek’s Dimension 9200 is not present in such popular cell phones, which makes it a more niche option, although it is also a top-of-the-line, mainly for those who prefer cell phones aimed at games.

It has a total of 8 cores, 1 at 3.05 GHz, 3 at 2.85 GHz, and 4 at 1.8; also manufactured with 4 nanometers, and even though it is a high performance, it is also able to balance this factor with energy efficiency. The Dimensity 9200 can run games like PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty Mobile at 120 frames per second and heavier games like Genshin Impact and Fortnight at 60 fps.

As mentioned, it is part of the configuration of some smartphones that are not yet present in the domestic market, but that can be purchased through import, such as the Redmi K60 Ultra, Oppo Find X6 and Vivo X90, and X90 Pro.

Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1

Returning to balanced options on Android devices, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is one of the best mobile processors for its energy efficiency and graphics performance. It is similar to the A16 Bionic, with both being produced in 4 nanometers and 16 billion transistors. In addition, both strongly focus on image processing, with this Qualcomm model supporting 8K HDR10 videos through Snapdragon Sight technology.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 has 8 cores, 4 with 2 GHz, 3 with 2.75 and 1 with 3.2 GHz, and 10 of TDP. This version brought 10% more performance compared to the base Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and consumed up to 30% less battery. However, it is important to point out that this base version remains one of the best processors for mobile as well.

The Plus version is present on cell phones like the Xiaomi 12T Pro and Motorola X30 Pro, while the base version can be found equipped on the Xiaomi Mi 12, Poco F4 GT, and the Galaxy S22.

Dimension 9000+

Like the Dimensity 9200, the 9000+ stands out as a great choice for those who want high-performance games, but in this case, it also has good optimization technologies for other smartphone functions. It brought some improvements over the base Dimensity 9000, such as greater energy efficiency, along with 5% more performance on the CPU and 10% on the GPU.

Its camera efficiency allows 300 MP lenses, with 2x zoom and 4K video recording with HDR. And for games, MediaTek’s Hyper Engine 5.0 makes the device reduce the quality of a few points to increase performance and response quality. The Dimensity 9000+ has 8 cores, 4 at 1.8 GHz, 3 at 2.85, and 1 at 3.2 GHz. It is equipped with gaming phones like ASUS ROG Phone.

The base Dimensity 9000 can still be considered one of the best cell phone processors, having very similar characteristics to the Plus version and a top-of-the-line chipset. The 9000 is responsible for processing the Xiaomi 12 Pro.
